Whether you call it a mountain lion, puma, cougar, or panther, this species of big cat is essential to maintaining California’s ecological balance. But throughout the state, expanding development and highways are breaking their habitats into smaller, isolated patches, making it harder for them to find food, mates, and safe passage. Because mountain lions rely on large, connected landscapes to survive, the WCN’s California Wildlife Program works to restore and link habitats that sustain them and other wildlife.
